Intervention 6.1, Enhancement and recovery of rural landscape

Project for the environmental enhancement of the Delta in the Province of Ferrara
The project aimed at the definition of a series of intervention proposals, called the “programme-plan”, developed by local boardsm which were translated in some pilot interventions for the the enhancement and improvement of rural landscape in the Po Delta Area. A survey of all the projects outlined by local public and private sectors has been carried out and an evaluation method has been identified to choose among proposals for future interventions - preliminary projects still to be carried out and project ideas – in order to define priorities to be financed through Leader II. This led to the publication of a notebook that gives an overview of all local projects – both those already underway and those still to be launched – at public and private level. The territory can consequently be seen as an integrated unit, an inter-Municipal system, This system can contribute to improve public planning through the coordination of future improvement projects and the integration of environmetal prpomotion through the reinforcement of biodiversity and an increase in tourism activities inn the area. This study contributed to the creation of a network bringing together environmental offer, infrastructures, offer and demand for environmental tourism. It resulted in the creation of an itinerary called “The path of the Delta” , whose aim is to integrate and harmonise the local environmental offer through a network of all the environmentally – interesting areas in the Delta, while envisaging the future development of “environmental corridors”. The path has a geographical identity and can be used by tourists visiting the delta.
