“Integration methods between tourism and the environment”
Partner: LAG DELTA 2000 (Po Delta - Italy) - LAG ECAD (East Cork –Ireland)
The project saw the two partners DELTA 2000 and ECAD-East Cork Area starting a first phase of intensive know-how exchange and know-how acquisition from international experiences (as the “RSPB case” in Great Britain). Then they moved to the implementation of many actions aimed at integrating environment and tourism, which, for DELTA 2000, focused on the creation and promotion of a tourist product on birdwatching in the Po Delta. The following actions have been carried out within the project:
-Tourism and promotion. The creation of a birdwatching itinerary in the Po Delta Park and specific literature to promote birdwatching ( guide “birdwatching in the Po Delta”, in Italian, English and German, brochures, placards, etc). Participation in the British Birdwatching Fair, Rutland Water (UK), an international fair event. Organisation of a farm trip in the Delta for specialised tour operators, European Associations and specialised press. Free guided tours in the Po Delta Park.;
-Environmental education: publication of the manual “Birdwatching in the Po Delta” for schools. Organisation of a contest for students. Student exchanges with East Cork schools.
-Infrastructures and safeguard: introduction of innovative techniques and infrastructures, as birdwatching huts with heating systems. Mission of experts form the Delta area to East Cork. Studies on the management of environmental site in the delta area.
