THE PROJECT
EURO À
LA CARD is a pilot information and awareness-raising
project targeted at some regions of 5 of the countries
participating in the first phase of the Euro. It is
a highly innovative intervention mainly aimed at young
generations, although it maintains an intergenerational
character.
The project is totally financed by the European Commission
and the participating partners. It consists in the creation
of a series of 38 artistic postcards with fundamental
information on the introduction of the single currency
to be distributed in the Delta area of the Emilia Romagna
Region. The project also includes some communication
and public-relations actions.
At European level the project is coordinated by the
IEIE International Education Information Exchange, a
non profit association acknowledged by the European
Commission and based in Stuttgart that organises international
exchanges on the themes of training and education for
a Europe without barriers, information and integration
between peoples and cultures.
The Association was started by the public authorities
of the City of Stuttgart, which still finances its every-day
activities. It is also financially supported by the
local government of Baden Wuttemberg and by the EU Commission
and partner countries for the implementation of projects
directly launched by the Commission. This project consequently
takes the Delta area of the Emilia Romagna Region to
the heart of an international network for the distribution
of 5 millions postcards throughout Europe, probably
one of the most important information actions for the
Euro aimed at young people. It also provides an important
opportunity of exchange between different regions and
cultures in this fundamental phase of the European integration
process.
