DELTA 2000 was created in 1994 as a non profit Association as the result of the commitment of some local authorities. Its role is that of a reference agency for public bodies, associations and private economic operators of the area of the Southern part of the Province of Ferrara, which is covered by EU Objective 5b.
Initially the area covered by the activities of the agency was that of the 5 Municipalities that benefit from Objective 5b funds; Berra, Codigoro, Comacchio, Goro, Lagosanto, Mesola, Ostellato. In 1996 DELTA 2000 became a consortium company, increased its registered stock and reinforced its role as a Development Agency through the implementation of different financing programmes, as Measures 3.7 and 2.3 of Objective 5b.
As Local Action Group - LAG - the management of the EU Initiative Leader II for rural development in the Southern part of the Province of Ferrara became one of the Agency's primary activities over the period 1996-2000. DELTA 2000 became an increasingly important technical instrument for local actions and the coordinator of private and public initiatives. Since the year 2000 it operates also beyond the provincial level, covering the lowland of the Province of Ravenna, particularly rural areas and areas belonging to the Po Delta Park.
Currently DELTA 2000 is outlining a Local Development Plan that will be proposed for the new EU Initiative Leader + (2000-2006), as a completion of previous programmes. It is also committed to the implementation of a pilot project for the creation of A LOCAL SYSTEM OF ENVIRONMENTAL TOURIST OFFERS - SLOTA - in the area of the Po Delta belonging to the Provinces of Ferrara and Ravenna. |
